On September 6, 1990, 22-year-old Darin Wade Crocker and his 27-year-old brother, Kevin, motored out of New Harbor, Maine aboard the North Wind, a stern dragger, for a planned four-to-five-day fishing trip. The North Wind was a commercial fishing boat designed to tow gear from the stern, a workhorse common to Maine’s coastal fleet.
