Gwendolyn “Gwenny” Carswell vanished from Washington, DC, on or about August 12–17, 2004. She was last seen near her home in the Brookland neighborhood, specifically around the intersection of 18th Street NE and Otis Street NE. That evening, she told her mother she was heading to a party—and then, inexplicably, never returned. Those days without contact struck her family as wholly out of character for a devoted mother, beloved sister, outgoing, sociable, and deeply rooted in her community.
