Murdered

Roxana Ocampo, aged 23, was tragically killed in an arson attack on January 31, 2009, in Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred in an apartment located in the Albany Park neighborhood. Ocampo and her daughter, nine-year-old Itzel Fernandez, died as a result of smoke inhalation when an intentional fire was set in the front stairwell of their building. Roxana, trying to rescue her daughter, ran back into the burning apartment but ultimately succumbed to the smoke and flames.
