On March 13, 2009, 14-year-old Gregory Robinson was shot and killed in Chicago's South Side while heroically attempting to protect two younger children—a 10-month-old and a 4-year-old—from gunfire. Gregory, a student at Simeon Career Academy, was returning from a high school basketball game when he was caught in the crossfire of a shooting.
