Damien G. Turner, 18, was fatally shot on August 15, 2010, in Chicago's Woodlawn neighborhood. Turner, a charismatic activist and co-founder of the grassroots group Fearless Leading by the Youth (FLY), was working to improve conditions at juvenile detention centers. On the night of the shooting, Turner was shot in the back just after midnight near a South Side intersection.
