On the night of September 30, 2011, 23-year-old Cresencio Munoz III was the victim of a fatal shooting in Phoenix, Arizona. At approximately 11:20 p.m., Munoz was a passenger in a Chevrolet S-10 truck, driven by his cousin, when the vehicle was stopped at a sign at the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Fillmore Street. It was at this moment that an unknown individual or individuals opened fire on the truck, striking the passenger side.
Believing they were being pursued, Munoz's cousin sped
away from the scene. Tragically, Cresencio Munoz III had been struck by the gunfire and fell from the moving vehicle at the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Adams Street. His cousin continued driving, eventually stopping at 48th Street and Baseline Road, where the police were contacted. Prior to the shooting, Munoz and his cousin had been at the Oaxaca's restaurant.
As of now, the suspect or suspects in the shooting death of Cresencio Munoz III remain unknown, and no arrests have been made in connection with the case. The investigation into his death is ongoing.
