On the night of February 13, 2000, 15-year-old Nicholas Ray "Nick" Kunselman was working the closing shift at a Subway sandwich shop located at 6768 W. Coal Mine Avenue in Littleton, Colorado. His 16-year-old girlfriend, Stephanie Hart-Grizzell, arrived at the store around 10:00 PM to spend time with Nick as he closed down the shop. This encounter was particularly poignant given that both teenagers had survived the Columbine High School massacre just 10 months prior.
