On April 16, 2006, 33-year-old Aaron Chavez was fatally shot in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The incident occurred in the parking lot of a Checkers Auto Parts store.
Following the shooting, police arrested 17-year-old Tungovia Lance, charging him with murder. Authorities also arrested 23-year-old Lloyd Passes, charging him with conspiracy to commit murder and evidence tampering.
Investigators reported that Passes was driving the vehicle in which Lance was a passenger at the time of the shooting.
Witnesses indicated that a dark-green, mid-sized sedan with five men inside entered the parking lot just before the shooting occurred. The arrests of Lance and Passes were part of the police response to this incident.
