On April 16, 2006, 33-year-old Aaron Chavez was fatally shot in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The incident occurred in the parking lot of a Checkers Auto Parts store.

Following the shooting, police arrested 17-year-old Tungovia Lance, charging him with murder. Authorities also arrested 23-year-old Lloyd Passes, charging him with conspiracy to commit murder and evidence tampering.
