On December 9, 2021, at approximately 1:45 a.m., Albuquerque Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire and a physical altercation near Port Road and Bluewater Road in northwest Albuquerque. Upon arrival, officers discovered three individuals with various injuries. Among them was 19-year-old Jacob Campos, who had sustained a single gunshot wound. Despite prompt medical attention, Campos succumbed to his injuries.
The two other individuals were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
In the immediate aftermath of the incident, APD detained one individual for questioning. However, authorities did not publicly identify any suspects at that time. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting was ongoing, with detectives working to piece together the events that led to the fatal encounter.
As of now, there have been no publicly reported arrests or identification of suspects in connection with the death of Jacob Campos. The case remains under investigation by the Albuquerque Police Department. Authorities continue to urge anyone with information related to the incident to come forward to assist in solving this case.
