On June 4, 2012, Police Officer Kevin E. Ambrose, a 55-year-old veteran of the Springfield Police Department with 36 years of service, made the ultimate sacrifice while responding to a domestic disturbance call. The incident occurred at the Lawton Arms Apartments on Lawton Street in Springfield, Massachusetts. Officer Ambrose was dispatched to the scene to protect a woman and her child from the woman’s boyfriend, who was involved in the domestic dispute.
