In the early morning hours of October 22, 2021, the life of 24-year-old McKayla Glover, a White female from Council Bluffs, Iowa, was tragically cut short. Paramedics and police responded to a call at her home on East Washington Street around 3:42 a.m. and found her with a single gunshot wound to the chest. She was rushed to the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, where she ultimately succumbed to her injury.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Council Bluffs police identified a
person of interest in the case: 28-year-old Vaughn White. Investigators began a search for White, and he was located and arrested in Omaha, Nebraska, less than a week after Glover's death. His arrest, however, was on an outstanding warrant for being a felon in possession of a firearm, not for the murder of McKayla Glover.
An obituary for McKayla revealed a close connection between the two, listing Vaughn White as one of her step-brothers. At the time of his arrest, authorities stated that they were continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding McKayla's death and that no other arrests had been made. While he was named a person of interest in her death, public information available does not indicate that Vaughn White was ever formally charged in connection with the shooting.
