Jennifer Leigh Greimann, 39, female, was found dead inside her Waukee home on the morning of August 29, 2022, after police were dispatched at 10:36 a.m. to the 2600 block of Abbott Drive for an “unknown problem.” Officers discovered two bodies—Greimann and 50-year-old Dev Puri—both with gunshot wounds; the address was later specified as 2615 Abbott Drive.
Greimann, a nurse practitioner with UnityPoint Health in Des Moines, and Puri, a radiation oncologist affiliated with MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center, had been in a long-term relationship. Family members later shared that Greimann’s mother went to check on her when she didn’t show up for work and discovered the scene.
From the outset, investigators described the case as an apparent murder-suicide. News releases and early reports noted that autopsies were scheduled, and authorities did not indicate any ongoing search for additional suspects. With Puri among the deceased, there were no arrests; family statements and local coverage identified him as the person who shot Greimann before taking his own life.
