On a winter evening that would soon turn tragic, 15-year-old Kirsten Elizabeth Hinckley, a Caucasian female, was at the Trolley Square mall in Salt Lake City, Utah, on February 12, 2007. A sophomore at Brighton High School, she was inside a card and gift shop with her mother when the ordinary sounds of a shopping center were shattered by the blast of a shotgun.
