On February 12, 2007, 15-year-old Kirsten Elizabeth Hinckley was tragically killed during a mass shooting at Trolley Square Mall in Salt Lake City, Utah. Kirsten, a sophomore at Brighton High School, was shopping for Valentine's Day cards with her mother, Carolyn Tuft, when the incident occurred. The assailant, 18-year-old Sulejman Talović, entered the mall armed with a shotgun and a handgun, opening fire on unsuspecting shoppers.
