Carlos M. Harding, aged 20, was shot and killed on July 17, 2016, in Chicago, Illinois. The shooting occurred in the Austin neighborhood, located on the city's West Side, which has been known for its frequent incidents of gun violence. Harding was shot in the head, and emergency services transported him to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead later that evening.
