On August 24, 2016, 4-year-old Madison Watson tragically lost her life in a deadly fire in Chicago’s South Side. The fire broke out in an apartment building located on Essex Avenue, killing Madison, her three-month-old sister Melanie, and another child, Shaniyah Staples. The blaze, later determined to be an arson, was allegedly set by a man following a personal dispute. The suspect, Reginald Hester, was charged with multiple counts of murder and aggravated arson.
