Harold Donald 'Tweety' Byrd, a 77-year-old male, was at the Frontier Diner on Interstate 30 in Little Rock, Arkansas, on the afternoon of June 23, 2016, when a violent robbery cut his life short. Around 12:30 p.m., two armed men entered the restaurant and opened fire, creating a scene of terror for the patrons inside. Amid the chaos, Byrd was fatally wounded.
While several other people were present in the diner, miraculously, no one else was physically harmed.
The Little Rock Police Department quickly launched an investigation into the city's 15th homicide of the year. Their efforts led to the swift identification and arrest of two suspects: 21-year-old Adrian Avery and 19-year-old Marquis Parker. Both men were taken into custody and subsequently charged with capital murder and aggravated robbery for their alleged roles in the deadly heist at the popular diner.
The investigation did not end with the initial arrests. Police identified a third individual believed to be involved in the crime. A warrant was issued for Corey Eskridge, who ultimately surrendered to authorities. On the Monday following the shooting, Eskridge turned himself in at the 12th Street station of the Little Rock Police Department and was taken into custody without incident, closing another chapter in the rapidly unfolding case.
