Elijah Murphy, aged 38, was fatally shot on November 17, 2016, in the Back of the Yards neighborhood in Chicago. The incident occurred early in the morning while Murphy was being dropped off at work by his pregnant daughter. He was getting out of the vehicle near the 4200 block of South Racine Avenue when a dark-colored SUV approached, and someone opened fire, striking Murphy multiple times. Despite the prompt arrival of emergency responders, Murphy succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
