In the pre-dawn hours of Christmas morning, a pall of violence descended upon Pine Bluff, Arkansas, irrevocably altering the holiday spirit for one family. On December 25, 2021, 30-year-old Shamarius 'Mario' Henderson, a male, was tragically killed. The incident unfolded around 3:00 a.m. when police were dispatched to the 300 block of West 15th Street following reports of a shooting.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Henderson inside a vehicle, suffering from what appeared to be
gunshot wounds. Another individual was also found at the scene with injuries and was promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment. Investigators later determined that the shooting had not occurred on West 15th Street, but rather near the intersection of 5th and University. It is believed that after being shot, Henderson and the other victim managed to drive to the West 15th Street address to seek help.
Despite the ongoing investigation by the Pine Bluff Police Department, there have been no arrests made in connection with the fatal shooting. Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the case, leaving a community and a grieving family searching for answers and justice. Henderson, a 2009 graduate of Pine Bluff High School and a father, is remembered by his loved ones as his case remains unsolved.
