In the early hours of January 21, 2017, Armani A. Pickett, a 20-year-old Black male, was gunned down on a winter night in Humboldt Park on Chicago's West Side.
Police were called to the 3900 block of West Thomas Street around 3:15 a.m. and found chaos settling into silence: two men sprawled in the street with gunshot wounds to the head, and the 20-year-old victim, who would not survive.
