On February 21, 2017, Justin Thomas, a 30-year-old African American male, was fatally shot in the Roseland neighborhood on Chicago’s Far South Side. The incident occurred in the 11300 block of South Michigan Avenue, an area that has experienced significant challenges with gun violence. According to reports, Thomas was standing outside when he was approached by an assailant who opened fire, striking him multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
