Brandon Phipps, a 30-year-old man, was fatally shot on May 19, 2017, in Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, which has long been struggling with high levels of gun violence. Brandon was reportedly shot multiple times during the early evening hours as he stood on a residential block. Emergency responders arrived at the scene quickly, but despite their efforts, Brandon was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
