Black male Antoine D. Alexander, age 24, was killed late on the morning of May 22, 2017, on the block where he lived in Chicago's Auburn Gresham neighborhood.
He was sitting in a vehicle in the 8400 block of South Hermitage Avenue at 11:27 a.m. when a single gunman approached on foot and opened fire.
He suffered wounds to the buttocks and back, was rushed to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, and was pronounced dead at 12:10 p.m.
He lived on the same block where he was
attacked, and the shooting unfolded just steps from home, in broad daylight.
Police described the assailant only as a lone shooter who walked up and fired several rounds before fleeing; contemporaneous reports did not include a motive.
No arrests were announced in the immediate aftermath, and subsequent public reporting has not indicated that a suspect was taken into custody in connection with the case.
