On June 18, 2017, Shirley Ervin, aged 69, was found stabbed to death in her home in the North Austin neighborhood of Chicago, alongside her husband, Johnnie Ervin. The tragic event took place when their son, Dexter Barnes, allegedly attacked both parents, resulting in their deaths. Shirley was fatally stabbed in the chest, while her husband suffered multiple stab wounds. Their bodies were discovered on the kitchen floor by Barnes’ brother, who alerted authorities to the scene.
