On the evening of July 4, 2017, Tyrone Burdine, a 56-year-old African-American male, was fatally shot while celebrating the holiday with neighbors in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago. At approximately 8:15 p.m., as Burdine stood in front of a home on the 1600 block of North Major Avenue, gunfire erupted from a passing vehicle.
