On June 19, 2023, 55-year-old Richard Gavino Amado was fatally shot in the unincorporated Florence-Firestone area of Los Angeles County. Amado, known affectionately as "Bino" to his family and friends, was living in a recreational vehicle parked in a cul-de-sac on the 1600 block of East 76th Street. At approximately 5:25 p.m., three men approached the end of the cul-de-sac, engaged with Amado, and then shot him before fleeing the scene.
Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Century Station responded to the shooting, and Amado was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:39 p.m.
The Los Angeles County Coroner's office later identified the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the head, ruling the manner of death as homicide. Amado was remembered by his family as a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He was known for his protective nature, sense of humor, love for oldies and funk music, and his habit of always expressing love before ending a phone call.
As of now, there have been no reports of arrests or identification of suspects in connection with Amado's death.
