Steven Wheeler, age 24, was fatally shot on November 1, 2017, in Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred in the East Garfield Park neighborhood, a part of the city that has been known to experience high levels of violence. Steven's death was among numerous homicides that year in Chicago, which saw a decrease in overall homicides compared to the previous year. Despite the overall decline in violence, certain neighborhoods remained hotspots for crime, and East Garfield Park was one of them.
