On September 16, 2023, Fayetteville police responded to a 911 call from 73-year-old Gregg Melvin at his residence on Kara Court. Upon arrival, officers found Melvin with a self-inflicted gunshot wound; he was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
During a search of the home, authorities discovered the body of 82-year-old Roslyn Mazzilli, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. Preliminary autopsy results indicated that Mazzilli's death occurred several days prior to Melvin's 911 call.
Investigators have classified the incident as a domestic situation resulting in both deaths. No additional suspects are being sought, and no arrests have been made in connection with the case. Authorities have reached out to the public for any further information to assist in the ongoing investigation.
