On April 13, 2024, Elizabeth "Ann" Baker Larkin, aged 71, was found deceased alongside her husband, 82-year-old James "Jimmie" Roy Larkin, in their home on McEachin Road in Laurel Hill, North Carolina. The Scotland County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of two unresponsive individuals at the residence. Upon arrival, deputies discovered both individuals had died from gunshot wounds.
