Elizabeth Larkin was born on December 31, 1952, in Lee County, North Carolina, to the late Thadis Baker and Mary Virginia McNeill. She built a fulfilling career as a chiropractor's assistant, working alongside Dr. Williams for many years. A dedicated member of Peele’s Chapel Wesleyan Church, Elizabeth was known for her love of gardening, visiting flea markets, and hosting family cookouts. She cherished time spent with her family, including her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.
James Larkin, born on July 7, 1941, in Scotland County, was the son of Harry Franklin Sears and Mamie Butler. He worked in the textile industry with J.P. Stevens until his retirement and was a member of Peele’s Chapel Wesleyan Church. James enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending flea markets, and was an avid NASCAR fan. He valued time spent with family and friends.
The tragic deaths of Elizabeth and James Larkin shocked the Laurel Hill community. Authorities have not disclosed further details about the circumstances leading up to the incident. Funeral services for the couple were held on April 20, 2024, at Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel, followed by burial in Hillside Memorial Park.
