David Hill, 33, a Black man, was killed on Sunday, October 15, 2023, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, after gunfire erupted in the parking lot of the St. Paul Apartments on Fletcher Street. The call that set everything in motion came in mid-afternoon, when a concerned citizen dialed 911 at 2:14 p.m., sending Orangeburg Department of Public Safety officers rushing toward the apartment complex at 500 Fletcher Street with only fragments of what had just happened.
