In the early morning hours of Saturday, November 11, 2023, the quiet of Milam Road in Batesville, Mississippi, was shattered by the sound of gunfire. Responding to reports of shots fired around 4 a.m., Panola County Sheriff's deputies arrived at a residence to find a grim scene. Inside, 36-year-old Lonnie Gilliam had been shot.
