Enel Jean, age 22, was killed on January 8, 2007, in Miami, Florida, in what authorities described as an ambush involving Haitian street gangs. Jean was traveling with his mother, Monique Jean, and his girlfriend, Sheena Pierre, when their SUV was attacked. The ambush occurred after they had attended a court hearing for Enel regarding a pending drug charge.
The attackers followed the family's vehicle, a green Mitsubishi Montero, from Interstate 95 until they reached Northwest Second Avenue, where a white Volvo blocked the SUV while a white Lincoln pulled up behind them. Gunmen then emerged from the cars and sprayed the SUV with gunfire.
Both Enel and his girlfriend Sheena were killed on the spot, while Monique was critically injured and succumbed to her wounds over a month later. Authorities attributed the shooting to a long-standing blood feud between local Haitian street gangs, which had contributed to increased violence in the North Miami-Dade area. Police continue to seek information on the case and have urged anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact Miami's homicide bureau or Crime Stoppers. The case remains unsolved, and no arrests have been made so far.
