In the quiet community of Almo, Kentucky, the evening of Tuesday, November 5, 2024, was shattered by a grim discovery. Just before 8:00 p.m., the Calloway County Dispatch received a call that led Kentucky State Police troopers to the 3800 block of Almo-Shiloh Road. There, beside the roadway, lay the body of a man, later identified as 34-year-old David A. Dicke of Paducah.
An autopsy would later confirm the violent nature of his death; Mr. Dicke had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
As investigators began to piece together the events that led to this tragedy, their work quickly pointed toward a suspect. The investigation led them to Shelby B. Junior, a 43-year-old man from Dyersburg, Tennessee. He was subsequently arrested and charged with murder, then lodged in the Calloway County Jail as the investigation by Detective Adam Jones continued.
David Dicke, born on June 15, 1990, in Paducah, was known for his friendly and thoughtful nature. He had built a career as an Inside Sales Representative for General Rubber and Plastics Company, where he was well-regarded by colleagues and clients. He was also an active member of the Masonic Lodge 283 in Folsomdale. Remembered for his love of the outdoors, cooking, and football, his greatest joy was helping those around him.
He is survived by his wife of ten years, Alexandria Nicole Dicke, and their two sons, Daniel Aiden Dicke and Michael Harrison Dicke. The community was left to mourn a man whose kindness and generosity had touched many lives, a life cut short in a senseless act of violence that has left a family grieving and a community seeking answers.
