In the late summer of 2006, the life of Sherman Lee Guy, a 26-year-old African-American man, was tragically cut short in Louisville, Kentucky. On the evening of Sunday, August 27, 2006, gunshots echoed on Maple Street, and when the authorities arrived at the 2300 block, they found Mr. Guy had been fatally wounded. His death was quickly ruled a homicide, leaving a family and a community to grapple with the sudden and violent loss of a young man known for his friendly demeanor.
