On the evening of May 7, 2024, Antonio M. Jones, a 48-year-old Black man, was killed during a home invasion in Terre Haute, Indiana. That night, police responded to a report of shots fired in the 1800 block of South Center Street. When officers arrived, they discovered two victims who had been shot during a burglary. Mr. Jones was found deceased at the scene.
A second victim, a woman, was rushed to a local hospital with serious injuries and was eventually discharged.
The Terre Haute Police Department launched an investigation, conducting numerous interviews and analyzing evidence. Their efforts led to the identification of four suspects. Within weeks, police had arrested Nick O. Rogan, 19; Levon J. Warrington, 19; and De'Rion M. Wilcox, 21. The fourth suspect, 21-year-old Jamir D. Jordan, was located and apprehended in Chicago with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Task Force.
All four men were charged with murder, attempted murder, burglary, and aggravated battery for their alleged roles in the attack that killed Antonio Jones and wounded the female victim. They were booked into the Vigo County Jail to await legal proceedings.
In late 2024, Jamir D. Jordan went to trial. A Vigo County jury acquitted him of the murder charge but found him guilty of attempted murder, burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, and aggravated battery. A date for his sentencing had not yet been set.
The trials for the other three co-defendants were delayed due to motions for continuance. As of late 2024, the jury trials for Nick O. Rogan and De'Rion M. Wilcox were scheduled for January 6, 2025, and Levon J. Warrington’s trial was set to begin on January 13, 2025, as the cases proceed through the court system.
