In the early hours of a Tuesday morning in Snellville, Georgia, a domestic disturbance call to the Gwinnett County Police Department marked the beginning of a tragic end for 56-year-old Dana Farmer. Responding to the call at the View at Jacks Creek apartments on Country Walk, officers arrived to a grim scene. Inside one of the units, they discovered a devastating outcome of what appeared to be a violent domestic dispute.
Dana Farmer, along with her 52-year-old husband Corey Jones, were found suffering from gunshot wounds. Also inside the apartment were two men who had been shot. Farmer and another woman were rushed to a local hospital, but Farmer did not survive her injuries. Her husband, Corey Jones, was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation that followed would reveal a story of a relationship in turmoil that spiraled into a fatal encounter.
The Gwinnett County Police quickly identified the shooter as 27-year-old Frank Wilburn Jr. of Loganville. Investigators determined that Wilburn had shot and killed Dana Farmer and Corey Jones before turning the gun on himself. A fourth individual, 29-year-old Rosella Jones, also from Loganville, was found with gunshot wounds but survived. It is believed that Wilburn and Rosella Jones were in a relationship, and their domestic issues had escalated to this tragic event. In a sad twist, the couple had been scheduled for a court hearing later that same day.
Miraculously, two other individuals present in the apartment at the time of the shooting were unharmed: a 46-year-old woman and a two-month-old baby girl. The case was investigated as a double murder-suicide, with Frank Wilburn Jr. as the sole perpetrator. As the suspect died at the scene, there were no arrests to be made in connection with the deaths of Dana Farmer and Corey Jones.
