On October 24, 2024, Eric Luther, a 53-year-old man from Alto, Georgia, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound outside the Cornelia Fire Department in Cornelia, Georgia. According to the Cornelia Police Department, Luther was suffering from a mental health crisis at the time of the incident.
