On November 13, 2023, at approximately 4:15 p.m., a tragic triple shooting occurred in the 12000 block of Northeast Fifth Avenue, just south of 123rd Street in North Miami, Florida. Jeremy Rivera was killed alongside his father Hector Rivera and brother Frankie Rivera in a violent confrontation with a neighbor.
The incident began when the suspect, Pierce Hoempler, age 33, engaged in a physical altercation with Hector Rivera, pinning him down on the lawn.
When Jeremy and his brother Frankie came to their father's aid, Hoempler allegedly opened fire on all three men. Two victims were found deceased at the scene near the residence, while a third was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The shooting stemmed from an ongoing neighbor dispute, with family members indicating there had been a previous clash between the parties involved. Police worked through the night investigating the crime, eventually apprehending Hoempler in the early hours of Tuesday, November 14. He was charged with three counts of second-degree murder and is being held without bond.
