On July 11, 2016, Markus Tanner, a 23-year-old father of two, was tragically shot and killed near his home at the intersection of Lakeshore Boulevard and Carder Street in Jacksonville, Florida. Tanner was walking down the street when someone approached him on a bicycle and shot him point-blank. He died at the scene before emergency responders could help.
The incident left his family devastated, with his mother too emotional to speak publicly.
However, Tanner's aunt, Robin Clemons, described the profound pain and grief the family was enduring, stating that the loss had deeply affected everyone, including Tanner's twin sibling. His grandmother, Gwendolyn Dubose, pleaded for justice and urged the person responsible to come forward. Despite an ongoing investigation, the police are still searching for the suspect, and the family has been relying on community support for answers and closure.
Authorities have asked anyone with information to come forward, offering anonymity through a Crimestoppers tip line. The case remains unsolved, and the family continues to seek justice for Markus Tanner.
