On December 3, 2017, Jontreeal Gainous, age 22, was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting in Tampa, Florida. The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on E Fowler Avenue after a verbal altercation between two groups of people. Gainous and three others were walking away from the scene when the suspects, who were following them in a vehicle, opened fire. Gainous received a fatal wound, while one of his companions was also injured but survived.
Tampa Police identified Anan Motilal as a person of interest in this case, believing that he was involved in the altercation leading up to the shooting. Authorities are seeking more information from the public to locate Motilal and to piece together what happened on that morning. Despite the investigation, the case has yet to be fully resolved, and detectives continue to look for leads that might help bring justice to Gainous and his family.
