On a cold winter’s night, just two days before Christmas in the year 2000, the life of a young man was tragically cut short on the streets of Washington, D.C.. Sixteen-year-old Christopher Battle, an African-American male, was in the vicinity of 17th and C Streets, Northeast, when the sound of gunfire shattered the evening calm at approximately 9:30 p.m..
