Janet Ruth Chisolm Kotopka, aged 78, died on June 20, 2021, in Lincoln, Nebraska, as a result of a gunshot wound inflicted by her husband, John Kotopka. Janet suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, a condition that significantly impacted her life and that of her husband. John, feeling overwhelmed by the responsibilities of caregiving and the financial burden of potential nursing home costs, shot Janet.
