Jean-Paul Poulain, a 62-year-old White male, was a well-known French cabaret singer in the Franco-American community of Augusta, Maine. His life, however, came to a violent end on the night of April 24, 2007, when he was shot in his School Street apartment. Poulain was still alive when emergency services arrived and, in his final moments inside the ambulance, was able to name the individuals who had attacked him. He succumbed to his injuries while en route to a hospital.
