On December 18, 2019, 15-year-old Gage Ryan Hale of Medway, Maine, died in an accidental shooting. A freshman at Schenck High School in East Millinocket, Gage was at a friend's house on Main Road, reportedly cleaning a gun, when the incident occurred. Maine State Police investigated the event as part of their standard protocol.
