Kathryn Marguerite "Katy" Benoit, a 22-year-old graduate student at the University of Idaho, was tragically shot and killed on August 22, 2011, outside her apartment in Moscow, Idaho. The perpetrator was Ernesto Bustamante, a former assistant professor at the university who had previously been in a relationship with Benoit.
