Paul Wyatt Russell Jr., a 30-year-old Black / African American man, was fatally shot on October 20, 2016, at the intersection of West 39th and Stockton streets in Garden City, Idaho. Russell, who was living in Meridian at the time, had not been part of the dispute that set the shooting in motion. He went to the intersection because a friend had become involved in an argument and Russell believed the friend might need help getting away from the situation.
