On December 9, 2016, 70-year-old Don Daane of Essex, Vermont, was found deceased outside the Anchorage Inn in South Burlington. At approximately 7:42 a.m., authorities received a report of a man's body in a grassy area on the north side of the inn's parking lot at 108 Dorset Street. Upon arrival, police identified the deceased as Daane.
