Martha J. Bailey, a 40-year-old female of White ethnicity, passed away on August 5, 2016, in Sheridan, Wyoming. Known affectionately as “Marty,” she was a retired Navy sailor who had served for 20 years and was deeply respected for her strength, intelligence, and humor. Martha was a devoted mother of five children and left behind a legacy of warmth and resilience. Her death was described as a tragic and abrupt end to a life that had touched many.

On Aug 8th 2016 Martha's husband 41 yr old Christopher Fisher was charged with second degree murder. During initial testimony Fisher admitted to fatally shooting Martha in the head during a struggle over the gun. According to Fishers statements he was in fear for his life and the lives of the five children present in the home at the time of the shooting.
One child 9, was witness to the shooting and stated that Christopher and Martha began fighting at the kitchen table, fisher obtained a gun from elsewhere in the room and pointed it at Bailey, They proceeded into the basement where the child followed. Upon arrival the child stated they saw the parents punching eachother and struggling over the gun. Child stated that Bailey kept trying to push the gun away from her head and that Fisher put the gun very close to her head and shot her.
Christopher Fisher was held on 150,000 dollar bond, the children were placed with the Department of childrens services. It was advised that any visit between Fisher and the children be completely supervised by a member of the staff. To prevent Fisher from disueding the children's memories of events from that night.
Oct 19th 2016 Christopher Fisher pleads not guilty in the killing of his wife.
May 4 th 2017 Fisher signed plea agreement and changed his plea to guilty in the killing of his wife.
May 19th 2017 Christopher Fisher is sentenced to 20-40 years in prison with the possibility of parole.
