On January 22, 2017, in Bethel, Alaska, 21-year-old Evanka Evan was found deceased from a possible self-inflicted gunshot wound at a residence on the 300 block of First Avenue. Originally from Akiak, Evan had been working as a community health aide for the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation. The Bethel Police Department responded to the scene and reported no suspected foul play. Her body was sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Anchorage to determine the official cause of death.
