On June 28, 2022, 28-year-old Daniel Ackerman was fatally shot at Taku Lake Park in Anchorage, Alaska. Ackerman was fishing with his wife and a friend when 19-year-old Teathloch J. Chan approached and asked for a cigarette. An altercation ensued, during which Chan physically assaulted Ackerman's friend. Ackerman and his friend pursued Chan into the nearby parking lot, where Chan produced a firearm and shot Ackerman, resulting in his death.
