On May 22, 2022, in Riverside, Alabama, authorities responded to a call about a suicidal individual at a residence on Depot Street. Upon arrival, they encountered 54-year-old William Huntoon Vance, who, armed with a handgun, fatally shot himself in the presence of law enforcement. Inside the home, officers discovered the bodies of his wife, 51-year-old Florence Diane Vance, and their two daughters, aged 16 and 13, all of whom had suffered fatal gunshot wounds.
